Tuesday 31st December, 2019 Topic: And it end in praise Text: Exodus 15:1-11 Golden text: who among the gods is like you,  O LORD?  Exodus 15:11   It can only be God that have made you gone this far. Have you  thought of it that some of the people you started the journey of this year together with were no more? You are not better of than them but God in his own volition has preserved your life till this moment.    Moses and Miriam sang to the Lord to appreciate him for the successful journey out of Egypt. They knew it could only be God. It is time for you to start counting your blessings, name them one by one and you will be highly surprised to see what God has done for you. The journey of 365 days has definitely come to an end today, truly there are pains and gains but it is high time you forgot all the pains and start singing praises to the Lord for bringing you thus far. Prayer: sing to appreciate God for sustaining you to see the end of 2019
Monday 30th December 2019 Topic: Only Jesus Christ can gives satisfaction Text: John 7: 37   A story was told of a man who thought that fulfillment in life is having many degrees. He had two  bachelor degrees, two master's degree and two doctoral degrees, and five professional degrees. Despite all these academic achievement, there was  still a vacuum in his life longing to be satisfied.   Satisfaction is a inner fulfillment and there is a joy derives from it. It gives one a sense of living and keep one going in the uncertainties of life. So many of us like the man in the story do have a kind of thought that if I can have that degree, master or doctoral degree i will be fulfilled, if I can make more money  i will be fulfilled, if I can get that house, if I can get that car, but all these are just like chasing a shadow. Satisfaction is not found in material things but in God alone. Jesus shouted  in a loud voice if anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Go to Jesus Chri
Sunday 29th December 2019 Topic: God reigns over all Text: Ezra 6:12   The Kings of this world usually have domains and territories but God reign over all domains and territories.    What have they told you that it cannot be done?  What report have they given you that is making you to have unrest?  Who is making life uncomfortable for you and your family?  Who is afflicting you?   Tell yourself God reigns over all and he is able to overthrow, dethrone anyone that claim to be King over your life. Exercise your authority in Christ Jesus today and begin to undo everything the enemy has done in your life. Prayer: Lord dethrone every power exercising control over my life in Jesus name.
Saturday 28th December 2019 Topic: when the dog refused to bark again. Text: 1 Samuel 28:16-25 Golden text: Samuel said why do you consult me, now that the LORD has turned away from you and became your enemy. 1 Samuel 28:16   A story was told of a fierce dog in a neighborhood, it has been a terror in the neighborhood and nobody dared pass where this dog was but suddenly this dog refuse to bark again and became toothless. The dog that people feared now became what people threw stones at and became a object of ridicule.   King Saul was just like this dog, a highly respected king, honored and decorated as the first king of Israel who had fought many battles and had enforced the law that anyone who consulted mediums in Israel shall die. This same king now became fearful, lost God's presence, became an ordinary man, a God's prophet that heard from God and revealed his mind to the people he led now became someone consulting mediums for a way out. What a ridicule and shame. His f
Friday December 27th 2019 Topic: Touch not the anointed Text:1 Samuel 26: 21-25 Golden text: I would not lay a hand on the LORD'S anointed. 1 Samuel 26:23   Revenge begets revenge. Allow God to avenge you on your enemies. A story was told of a man who decided to carry out revenge mission on those who killed his parents, he was successful and he wiped the whole family off but since that time in his generation people do die by the sword.     David had the opportunity to kill Saul twice but he didn't kill him. That could have been so easy, killed him, became the king, he did not take revenge on him because he was LORD'S anointed. Allow God to avenge you even if the Lord gave your enemies to your hands. Vengeance is of the Lord and not of man. Prayer: Lord help me not to see vengeance as my duty but your duty in Jesus name
Thursday December 26th 2019 Topic: when success becomes bitter. Text: 1 Samuel 21:10-15 Golden text: so he feigned insanity in their presence., 1 Samuel 21: 13  A story was told of a Christian brother who got a job in a oil company after several years of joblessness. After six months of working there, he discovered there were shady deals and he had no choice than to resign or compromised and denied his faith. success can become bitter, David never knew his success would make him to be homeless and at peril of death. His success became bitter and he became a man of distress. An army with a high rank in Israel army who was supposed to enjoy for the rest of his life in the Palace now became homeless to the the extent of feigning madness in the enemies territory so that he could live. When success becomes bitter, do not loose hope in God but have strong trust and confidence in the Lord, he is able to turn situation around for your good. Remember if success become bitter, God have  gre
Wednesday December 25th 2019 Topic: Beware of Praise singers. Text: 1 Samuel 18: 5-9 Golden text: and from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David. 1 Samuel 18:9    One of the major problem of leadership is the ability to manage people. It was people that made Saul failed. He was a men pleaser.    Saul had no issues or problems with David's success until people chanted "Saul has slain his ten thousands, and David his tens of thousands." As simple as the chant may be it has deep meaning and significance. It's simply saying Saul was no longer relevant, but David. Saul was so angry and he knew the kingdom had been literally ascribed to David. From that time on, he kept a jealous eye on David. All the same these people are praise singers, the same people that praised Saul when he defeated the Ammonite. Do not be intimidated by praise singers, they are just noise makers, see their praise as distraction, focus on God because the same people that sing your praises
Tuesday 24th December 2019 Topic: A friend that sticks than a brother. Text: 1 Samuel 18: 1- 4 Golden text: Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself. 1 Samuel 18:1    Friends are gifts you give to yourself. To make it in life, you need people and no man is an island.    Success attract good people to you at times. When you make it it in life, automatically your friends will change and your level will change. The day David killed Goliath, his level changed, and his promotion was accelerated. He was opportuned to be a friend of Jonathan a great soldier, influential son of Saul, when your level changed, men will seek you with gifts and your dressing will change. That day Jonathan gave him his robe, and since that day David became a great and reputable man in the kingdom of Israel. Before then we didn't read that David had friend but on the day he killed Goliath he had a friend and not just a friend, a influential one who had great impact on him for th
Monday 23rd December 2019 Topic: Confront to kill your Goliath  Text: 1 Samuel 17: 41-58 Golden Text: all those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves but the battle is of the LORD'S , 1 Samuel 17: 47    Goliath deserved to be killed, do not spear the Goliath of your life, killing them is the only way you can experience long time peace. After the death of Goliath, for several years war between Philistines and Israelites army ceased because the commander of their army had been killed.  Goliath was angry that as experienced as he was, just a Shepherd boy with stones faced him, he cursed him in the name of his gods and David told him that he confronted him in the name of his God whom he had despised and he didn't waste words again, moved into action shot him and before he regained consciousness, he cut off his head, what a victory and that was God at work in the life of the Shepherd boy to kill an uncircumcised Philistine who defied the a
Sunday December 22nd 2019 Topic: Confront your Goliath. (2) Text 1 Samuel 17:31-40 Golden text: with his sling in his hand he approached the Philistine  1 Samuel 17:40   No going back when faced with your Goliath. Saul was afraid of the Goliath, he did all his best to convince David not to confront Goliath because he was inexperienced being a Shepherd boy but David was determined to confront him.   David was seeing an animal disgracing armies of the living God while Saul was seeing an experienced soldier from his youth who was trained to kill. No wonder Saul offered David armour and other military weapons to face Goliath but David was not used to it, he dropped it and took stones with catapult to face an animal called Goliath. Your enemy is what you call it. David was going in the name of his God who delivered him from wild animals like Goliath and he was sure of victory. The God factor is a winning factor, the armies of God had forgotten their God but a Shepherd boy with God is p
Saturday 21st December 2019 Topic: Confront your Goliath (1) Text: 1 Samuel 17:12-26 Golden text:  who is this uncircumcised philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God. 1Samuel 17:26  Goliath had no respect for the armies of Israel for 40 days he defied them and nothing was done to avert the shame until when a Shepherd boy came, he could not take the reproach, he saw it as a disgrace to the armies of God and he was set to confront the Goliath   Two different things, the armies of Israel were distracted about the enormous and gigantic Goliath that they forgot about how big their God is and Shepherd boy came he was embarrassed that how could an uncircumcised Goliath defied armies of God. Shepherd boy was focused on his God to the extent that Goliath looked like an ant before him.  When confronted with Goliath, don't look at him, looking at him will terrify you but rather look at God and you will be courageous to confront your Goliath. Prayer: Lord Jesus help me
Friday December 20th 2019 Topic: Goliaths of life Text: 1 Samuel 17:1-11 Golden text: A champion named Goliath, who was from Gath, came out of the Philistines, he was over nine feet tall.    Goliaths are inevitable in the journeys of life. They are the things that terrifies us, make us loose hope, doubt God, loose hope, loose confidence, mock us, threaten us and put us in dismay.   The description of Goliath in the Bible was enough to make one afraid, the appearance of Goliath enough made thousands of Israelites army shivered and dismayed. Goliath was a champion who had never lost , a warrior from his birth and a skillful fighter. This was the personality of Goliath , a man that dreaded a whole nation of God's army. In your journey in life, prepare your mind to meet Goliaths, and be prepared to confront them when they appear in your life journey. Two decisions await you when Goliaths appear in your life journey,  (1)you run away, (2)  you confront it.  Each of the decision com
Thursday December 19th 2019 Topic: Your gift will make a way for you Text: 1 Samuel 16: 14-23 Golden Text:  one of the servants answered, I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the harp. 1 Samuel 16:18    A story was told of a young man who was a graduate but had no job. He was very skillful in playing drums and played for his church at all meetings without any remuneration despite enticement from churches and ministries around to come and played for them with good income. One day  one of the  Directors of the Nigerian national petroleum cooperation worshipped in their church, and he loved the way he played drums. He invited him after the service and during the interaction he got to know he was a graduate and immediately he offered him a job in a oil company. Your gift will definitely make a way for you, it is just a matter of time if only you can be consistent and unwilling to give up. David was a Shepherd boy, skillful in playing harps, everybody in his lo
Wednesday December 18th 2019 Topic: A man after God's heart Text: 1 Samuel 16 : 8-13 Golden text: Then the LORD said, " rise and anoint him ; he is the one." 1 Samuel 16:12b   A man once prayed I don't want to be the best but I want to be the preferred. The best at times don't usually get the offer but the preferred.    Eliab who seemed to be the best and qualified for the position did not get the anointing to be the king but a little Shepherd who was inexperienced about battles and wars. God's ways are different from ours, humans are short sighted, we cannot see beyond where we are but God is all sighted. He can see the end from the beginning, God is in search for a man after his own heart, a man who has regard for him, a man who honors him, a man with a heart of flesh, because a man with God can do extraordinary. The search was completed when God himself identified David  as  the man he wanted for the job. The identification came with a command. And Sam
Tuesday December 17th 2019 Topic: The LORD looks at the heart. Text: 1 Samuel 16:1-7 Golden Text:.. But the Lord looks at the heart 1 Samuel 16:7   God's prophet at times do miss it, they are humans and no human is immune to mistakes.    Samuel was convinced by Eliab's appearance, he was tall, huge, had a physique and charisma of a king. Humanly speaking, he should be the king, he was experienced, he had been in army since his youthful age, and highly skillful. With all these qualifications, Samuel was about endorsing him before God stopped him. God sees the heart but we humans judge by appearance. No matter how pleasant and good a thing is to you, please do your best to ask God who sees the heart if it is right for you. Not all that glitters is gold, carry God along in all your decision making process in life so that you will not fall into the trap of judging by appearance. Prayer: Lord do not allow me to judge by my senses but by your spirit in Jesus name
Monday December 16th 2019 Topic: God values obedience Text: 1 Samuel 15:10-23 Golden text: To obey is better than sacrifice 1 Samuel 15:22   Obedience is following instructions to the letter. Obedience is instant, not a factor of convenience but compulsion. 99% obedience is disobedience as far as God is concerned.  According to human standards, Saul passed the test because he destroyed all except that he kept some for his personal consumption. According to God's standard, he disobeyed because the instructions was annihilate all. It should be a total massacre but covetousness made him disobeyed God. To disobey God is to disregard God, and God does not take it lightly, and for that one act of disobedience God ended the kingdom of Saul. Has God been telling you to do away with sins though you have repented from some but you still indulge in some. God values obedience, repent from all sins today because 99% obedience is still disobedience. God wants total obedience. Prayer: Lord
Sunday December 15th 2019 Topic: Your integrity counts Text: 1 Samuel 12:1-5 Golden text: you have not cheated or oppressed us they replied  1 Samuel 12:4   A story was told of a manager who had been faithful to his boss but one day his boss called him and gave him millions of naira to supervise a construction of a modern duplex for him. The manager thought within himself that he had been faithful to this man all this while what did he have to show for it. He diverted some of the money and built the mansion with inferior material. After the completion of the building project , his boss invited him to his office appreciated him for the success of the project, and as he wanted to give the keys of the mansion to the boss, the boss told him that is your reward for working faithfully with me and the manager was shocked.      Samuel declared his stewardship to the people he led , it was a farewell speech and he was challenging them if he had been unfaithful in leading them but none could
Saturday December 14th 2019 Topic: Results terminate insults Text : 1 Samuel 11:1-14 Golden text: The people then said to Samuel, who was it that asked shall Saul reign over us?  Bring these men to us and we will put them to death. 1 Samuel 11:12    A story was told of a great Apostle who was about to be disciplined and sanctioned for excesses, he was excused outside so that the board could determine his penalty. While the Apostle was outside, he saw people wailing in tears, carrying a corpse of a young man, the apostle went there, prayed , the dead man came back to life, the whole town was in agog and the ministers of God holding the meeting left the room and they all joined celebration of God's miracle through the Apostle.   Results terminate insults, Saul who had been despised , staged a battle against a city and he defeated the city hands down. The people marveled, the victory confirmed Saul as king and his enemies were silenced forever. The anointing of God on those he ch
Friday December 13th 2019 Topic: God does not call the qualified. Text: 1 Samuel 10:20-26 Golden text:  how can this fellow save us?   In the world setting, only the most qualified gets the position but God do not put the qualified in a position.  Only God knew what he saw in Saul that he made him the first king in Israel. He was not popular among his people, he was not influential, he was not a prophet but yet he emerged as the first king in Israel and reigned for forty years.  When it comes to qualifications, the so called great men of God are not qualified and that is why God use to anoint his people so that people will not despise them. It is not unnatural for certain men to despised Saul and refused to give him gifts because they didn't see the qualifications of a king in him. God is sovereign and only he alone knows why he choose some and reject some. Above all let us serve him with all our hearts and he will definitely qualify us into greatness when the set time comes.
Thursday December 12th 2019 Topic: Danger of permissive will.(2)  Text: 1 Samuel 8: 19-22 Golden text: The LORD answered,  "listen to them and give them a king."  1 Samuel 8:22  A story was told of a student who was copying his friend in an examination and after the examination he went back to his friend and told him "thank you for allowing me to copy you" but his friend smiled and told him that did you realized that our questions were of different types, he shouted in pains why did you allow me to copy from you and he said I permitted you because because I wanted you to fail honorably so that you can learn your lesson in a hard way.   The Israelite wanted to be like other nations and demanded for a king to rule over them despite God telling them all the dangers involved there, they still optioned for a king which eventually they suffered. When you asked for something and God said no, he simply have the best for you, he sees the end from the beginning, permitti
Wednesday December 11th 2019 Topic: Danger of permissive will. (1) Text: 1 Samuel 8: 4-18 Golden text: Give us a king to lead us 1 Samuel 8:6  A story was told of a Christian brother who wanted to get a car, he told his pastor and they both agreed to trust God together for it. In the process of time the brother told pastor that he was ready to buy a fairly used car. The pastor told him that have you forgotten so soon that God said he will give you a brand new car but he replied pastor, sir we both know that I can't afford a new car. He eventually bought a fairly used car, three months after he had an accident with the car and miraculous he escaped death but the car was a total write off. His pastor visited him in the hospital, it was then he remembered God's words to him through the Pastor.   Most times we take God's permissiveness as God's will and this is very dangerous. The Israelites wanted a king and God made them see the consequences yet they still wanted king
Tuesday December 10th 2019 Topic: Coping with difficult children. Text: 1 Samuel 8:1-3 Golden Text: but his son did not walk in his ways 1 Samuel 8:3   A pastor kid once told me that his Dad was very committed , served God diligently, taught them, a good model to emulate but to them as his children they saw dad as someone serious with his career and they are not ready to become pastor so they choose their own paths in life.  Samuel taught his children, he was a good model for his children, Samuel would have learnt from Eli his spiritual father and he would have taken his time to teach his children but his children failed to walk in his ways. The children charted a different path different from their father's ways. Had Samuel failed in parenting? No, he had been diligent enough to show his children the right way but they ignored it. Children can be difficult but do your best to train them and put them on the right path. Having done that, and the children ignored it, do not fret
Monday December 9th 2019 Topic: A call to turn back to God Text: 1 Samuel 7:2-17 Golden text: so the Israelites put away their Baals and Ashtoreths and served the Lord only   Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach. For twenty years the people were in bondage because of sins  and Samuel called them to repentance so that their land can be healed and delivered from the Philistines who had subdued the land. The people heeded to the call, gave away all their idols and served the Lord with all their hearts. The outcome was great, their land was restored and Lord granted them freedom and victory over the Philistines.   Great things happen when we prayed, Samuel interceded for the nation and the nation was delivered from bondage. Truly we are praying in Nigeria but there can only be a change when we repent from our sins. Praying in sins is nothing but an abomination before God. Let us do away with idols of pleasures, money and other evils. Let us call on to God to deliver and
Sunday December 8th 2019 Topic: Christians possess awesome power. Text: 1 Samuel 5: 1- 12 Golden Text: but the following morning when they rose , there was Dagon fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord. 1 Samuel 5:4  A story was told of a former Wizard who converted into Christianity , who was assigned to waste committed Christians who were hindrances to the kingdom of darkness, he confessed that in most cases he found it difficult to carry out his mission because these Christians are shielded with a great pure fire and they became untouchable to the extent that they trembled and fell before them.   A child of God don't know how powerful he is, if he knows he would not have toyed with sin. Every child of God posses the presence of God which the kingdom of darkness tremble at , and it is the desire of the devil to trick man into sin so that he can lost God's presence. The ark of God which sin made ineffective in the battle became an element of destructio
Saturday December 7th 2019 Topic: when the presence of the Lord departs. Text: 1 Samuel 4: 1-22 Golden text: the glory of the Lord has departed 1 Samuel 4: 21   Take consecration from the man of God and he becomes an ordinary man. Consecration is very important, only God consecrates and when he consecrated a man it is expected for those men to discipline themselves by saying no to sin.   Hophni and Phineas were priests dedicated and consecrated for God's service. They were also sons of a great prophet and judge of Israel. They had all what it took to be great and respected priests of God but these men failed to discipline themselves and they eventually became prey to the Devils.  Every child of God posses the presence of God, this is God's glory that the devil dreads but sin deactivate God's glory in men. Hophni and Phineas had been living immoral life as priests but when the duty called for them to carry the ark which was one of the duties of their offices, they were
Friday December 6th 2019 Topic: The LORD still speaks Text: 1 Samuel 3:1-10 Golden text: .. Speak for your servant is listening. 1 Samuel 3:10    We are created in God's image and one of the reasons why we are created is to fellowship with God. Fellowshipping with God requires communication.   God speak to us in various ways today but we are too busy and preoccupied with activities that we did not hear him. God called Samuel but he didn't know it was God. God has been communicating with you too just that you don't know it is him. He spoke to Samuel in a natural way that he would understand. We usually think God will speak in a supernatural way like voicing out of thunder, storms, waters, trees and the likes. God  will speak to you in a natural way that you will understand and it will not be cloudy. Eli knew it was God when Samuel ran to him because he was conversant with the word of God and his ways. Whatever God will tell you will not contradict his written word which
Thursday December 5th 2019 Topic: Discipline your children Text: 1 Samuel 2:27- 36 Golden text: wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honourest thy sons above me. 1 Samuel 2:29 Spare the rod, spoil the child. Discipline is inevitable in training up a child. You can only train up a child but not adult.  The sin of Eli was that he did not exercise discipline on his children for treating God's sacrifice with contempt. God expected him to execute due judgement on them but he refused expecting God to do what he could have done. This made God to pronounce generational curse on him. Procreation come with responsibilities and part of it is exercising discipline on the children God has given you. Disciplining your children does not mean you hate them but you love them and the results of doing so is great. You save yourself and your family from God's anger when you exercise discipline on your children. Learn from Eli and
Daily insight with God Wednesday December 4th 2019 Topic: Follow good examples Text: 1 Samuel 2:11-12 Golden text: Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial;they knew not the LORD 1 Samuel 2:12 It is very not uncommon to see children following the bad examples in their environment. A smoker was asked how did he become addicted to smoking and he replied "I grew up among smokers and I have not seen anything wrong in it because that is what people around me do" Samuel grew up among children of Belial but he was determined not to be influenced by them. Do not allow people in your environment or your environment to influence you negatively. Choose to copy the good examples, Samuel closely walked with Eli and he diligently obeyed all he said while Hophni and Phineas were busy wasting away their lives in lust and immorality. Others around you may be doing it wrong but you must be determined not to follow bad examples. Prayer: Lord Jesus help me not to be influenced by bad examp
Tuesday December 3rd 2019 Topic:. Fulfill your vows Text: 1 Samuel 1:24-28 Golden text: .. Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD. 1 Samuel 1:28a   A story was told of a couple who asked a child from the Lord with a vow to give him back to the Lord, the child grew up, told his parents that he wanted to be a man of God but they talked him out of it. The boy became a medical doctor when the time came for the boy to practice and became the parent's pride, the Lord called the child home and the parents remembered their vows and wept bitterly though it was too late.   Hannah remembered her vows  and gave Samuel back to God when Samuel was all she had. God is a covenant keeping God and he do expect his people to keep terms and conditions of the covenant. Do not make a vow that you will not fulfill it is dangerous. Hannah fulfilled her vows and God gave her another five children. When you fulfill your vows, God will increase you beyond your imagination. Prayer: Lord help me to f
Monday 2nd December 2019 Topic: songs of victory Text: 1 Samuel 2: 1-10 Golden Text: my mouth is enlarged over my enemies because I rejoice in my salvation. 1 Samuel 2:1    Victory is of the Lord. Only God can give man a victory over the battles of life. Hannah never thought she could bear a child but God answered her miraculously.  Do not give up on God because God will not give up on you. When you get that victory you have longed for, ascribe praise to God alone, worship him in his majesty, give him all the glory and that was exactly what Hannah did in our text today. She knew it can only be God the could do it and she busted into songs of victory. Prayer: Lord let my present predicament end in praise in Jesus name
Sunday 1st December 2019 Topic: keep asking till it happen Text: 1 Samuel 1 :7  A story was told by a friend who needs help in the middle of the night and he kept knocking for hours till his friend was wearied and opened the door for him.   Do not be tired of asking till you get it. Asking over and over shows that you still believe and have faith in God. Hannah was not tired of asking till she got her miracles. There is power in persistence. God is a merciful and he have the best in mind for you. God is not man that he will not heed to your request because he is full of mercies. Keep asking God and you will get it Prayer: Lord Jesus help me not to faint in asking but give me the grace to keep asking till I get it in Jesus name
Saturday 30th November 2019 Topic: Let human provocations push you to God Text: 1 Samuel 1: 7   When you are provoked or intimidated by other people achievements or successes what do you do. It is natural to be under pressure when you could not have what your contemporaries have achieved. Some resulted into bitterness, envy and desperation. Hannah was provoked and intimidated by Peninah but instead of being bitter and jealous, she turned to God for help. When you are frustrated or intimidated, cry for God's help and he will definitely help you. Do not let human provocations push you to seek help from the wrong place. God is able to comfort and help you. Prayer: Lord Jesus help me to seek you when I am intimidated and frustrated in Jesus name
Friday November 29th 2019 Topic: Mysteries of God Text: 1 Samuel 1:1-6 Golden Text: for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.  Certain events that we seems to call evil are caused by God. Can we say God is an originator of evil? No, but this is a mystery. Certain things we will not understand until we get to heaven, such things are mysterious to us.      Hannah could not have children, she was barren, not because she sin yet her womb was shut by God. What is your predicament? Lean on God, keep serving him and trust him for a miracle soon. He knows what he will do that will terminate reproach in your life. Prayer: Lord help me to still trust you when faced with issues beyond my comprehension in Jesus name
Thursday November 28th 2019 Topic: When your Samuel delays Text: 1 Samuel 13:1-14 Golden Text: And he tarried seven days according to the set time that Samuel had appointed : but Samuel came not to Gilgal : and the people were scattered from him. 1 Samuel 13:8   A story was told of a fervent Christian who waited several years trusting God for a life partner but eventually gave up and married a Muslim out of frustration.   Many a times, Christian gave up like this sister in our story when their expectations was delayed. Saul was also in this situation, he waited seven days for Samuel but he didn't show up and out of disappointment and failure. Saul offered sacrifice which Samuel should offer and this attracted the anger of God and his Kingdom could no longer continue. When your Samuel delayed, what should be your response? Hold on to God and his promises. Do not go for alternatives, God knows the best, when he delays, he have something great for you and only the patient can obt
Wednesday 27th November 2019 Topic: Remember God's great deeds Text:  1 Samuel 12:4   At times we humans are of the habit of alleging God or raising questions when faced with pains, problems and challenges. In this period, we usually forget God's great deeds in the past and are greatly concerned about fast relief from the present situation     Samuel was challenging the Israelites not to forget the great deeds of God, and serve him faithfully with all their hearts. Forgetting God's great deeds that he had performed among us is dangerous to our walk with God, in Job's predicament, he said  " shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?"  God is faithful regardless of what you are experiencing. Always remember his good deeds and he will perform greater things for you. Prayer: praise God for the good deeds he has done for you

Ruth 4:16   A story was told of a man who boarded a plane for the first time, his ticket was economy but mistakenly he was directed to first class seat, the plane was about to leave when the air hostess discovered but it was too late. The man received a first class treat that he didn't pay for and he knew this was nothing but God's grace   Ruth a generation of Moabites became a generation of God's people not only that Jesus Christ was born through her seed. What a candidate of God's grace! You too can be a candidate of God's grace. To be God's candidate of grace, it require nothing  from you just know him as the Lord and seek first his Kingdom. Let his matters matter first to you. Prayer: Lord make me a candidate of your grace in Jesus name
Monday 25th November 2019 Topic: Do it the right way. Text: Ruth 4: 1-12 Golden text: Then the elders and those at the gate said we are witnesses. Ruth 4: 11  A story was told of a Christian brother and sister who are led into a relationship. Instead of going through engagement and church marriage, they decided to do it their own way by going to court without their parents consent. Years later , the sister was not accepted as a wife in the brother's family and the brother too was not accepted in the sister's family. And they were usually subject to ridicule and shame until they did it the right way.  Boaz could have taken Ruth as wife that night, even had carnal knowledge of her without nobody knowing but he decided to do it right way by following the right protocol. As Christians do not break protocol , our God is a God of order and he expects us to follow the right order. Prayer: Lord help me to do things in the right way in Jesus name
Sunday November 24th 2019 Topic: Noble character pays. Text: Ruth 3:1-13 Golden text: All my fellow townsmen know that you are a woman of noble character. Ruth 3:11    Character is like a smoke it cannot be covered and when character is lost all is lost. The good character of Ruth made her mother in law to devise a means of giving her a faithful husband and he was so humble to accept her mother in law advice when there were lot of young men eyeing her on the field. Boaz was so happy that he could not hold it but confessed that she had a noble character. Good character can not be bought, Ruth's noble character paid her in the long run. Beauty without character will soon become a displeasure. Character was the inner beauty that Boaz saw in Ruth that made him preferred her among others Prayer: Lord Jesus help me not to loose my character in Jesus name.
Saturday 23rd November 2019 Topic: God order his people steps Text: Ruth 2:1 - 13 Golden text: As it turned out she found herself working in a field belonging to Boaz who was from the clan of Elimelech. Ruth 2: 3   God is usually at work in the lives of those who honour him and serve him diligently. Nothing happen by accident or mistake for his own people. No coincidence in his plans for his children.  It was not coincidence that Ruth found herself working in Boaz field. The Bible said as it turned out to be, God work in such a way that he order the step of his own people to fulfillment. All you have to do is to be diligent, the hand of the diligent shall rule, had Ruth been lazy by staying at home expecting her old mother in law to provide for her needs how come would God have ordered her steps. As children of God, let us take steps and expect God to direct it for us. Prayer: Lord order my steps into the fulfillment of my purpose and destiny in Jesus name
Friday 22nd November 2019 Topic: stubborn Determination Text: Ruth 1:15-22 Golden text: Do not urge me to leave you or turn away with you Ruth 1:16   A story was told of a student who was asked to withdraw from the University at 300 level due to his poor performance. He could not go back home because of his determination to be a graduate. He eventually took entrance form to another university, he was admitted to the University and he eventually became a graduate.     Naomi had been reduced to nothing , she could have stayed in Moab and saved herself from the disgrace of going back to Bethlehem but she summoned courage to go back. Her daughter in laws were quick to follow her but she made them realized the consequences of their decisions. Orpah on hearing that stayed back but Ruth clung to her mother in law. She was ready to stay unmarried for life, she left certainties for uncertainties, be a stranger in a strange land she had never been. This does not make sense but she chose to
Thursday 21st November 2019 Topic: Is the LORD leading you? Text: Ruth 1: 1-14 Golden Text: went to live for a while in the country of Moab. Ruth 1:1       A story was told of a man who was struggling in Nigeria for a living, he made up his mind to get a visa and traveled to United States of America where he believed his struggling would be over. He sold all he had labored for and traveled out of Nigeria to the United States of America. On getting there, to his surprise life was not as easy there as he thought it would be. His struggling continued, all he could boast of was clothing, shelter and food. After several years without nothing to show for it, he summoned courage and decided to come back to Nigeria.     What work for Mr A may not work for Mr B. Do not make life decisions based on others are doing it and it works for them or make decisions based on your human analysis and knowledge. Ensure you carry God along in your decision making process because he knows the end from th
Wednesday 20th November 2019 Topic: Let your gift to God cost you something Text: 2 Samuel 24: 19-25 Golden text: but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing 2 Samuel 24:24 God  is not interested in how big your offering his but the condition of the heart that brings it. Before you drop your offering into the offering box, ask yourself this question: " what will it cost you"? David was offered a free land for sacrifice, he could have been happy, blessed the person that gave him but because he understood the principle of giving, he rejected the gift and paid for it in full. God sees your heart, you do not have to stay at home on Sunday morning because you don't have offering to drop. God knows everything about you and he is much more interested in the salvation and edification of your spirit than your offering. Prayer: Father help me to give sacrificially in Jesus name
Tuesday 19th November 2019 Topic: The merciful God Text: 2 Samuel 24:11-18 Golden text: for his mercies are great and let me not fall into the hand of man. 2 Samuel 24:14  The mercies of the LORD will not give a man the punishment he deserves. David in his walk with the Lord knew that he is a merciful God, and when he was given options for his punishment, he decided to fall into the hands of God rather than the hands of men or devil. God eventually showed him his mercies and did not allow the angel of destruction to go far with his mission before he stopped him   Do you want to enjoy the mercies of the LORD too, walk with him daily with a perfect heart and you shall enjoy his mercies and goodness daily. Prayer: father do not allow me to fall into the hands of wicked men in Jesus name
Monday November 18th 2019 Topic: A foolish act Text: 2 Samuel 24:1 - 10 Golden text: take a away the iniquity of thy servant for I have done foolishly. 2 Samuel 24:10  Human are not immune to mistakes and foolish acts. We had at one time or the other made foolish choices which we later regretted just like David did in our text today. He was greatly warned against this foolish act by Joab but he ignored him. Counting was not the problem but the motive behind the counting. Before there can be head counting, the order must be from the Lord. Before you embark on anything, consider the motive  behind it is it to the glorification of God or glorification of self? Prayer: Lord deliver me from foolish acts in Jesus name
Sunday November 17th  2019 Topic: My lamp shall not be extinguished Text: 2 Samuel 21: 15-22 Golden text: so that the lamp of Israel will not be extinguished. 2 Samuel 15:17  There is a great difference between to die and to be killed. To die is to live to fulfill one days but to be killed is to die in the hands of the enemies. God's desire for his own children is to die in his own time and not be killed.   If not for God's mercies, David would have been killed and the Philistines would have been joyous over his death but God said no. David had been fighting since he was a boy and at sixty the law of diminishing return had set in and if not for God he would have been killed just like that. And his men stopped him from going to battle again hence forth   Learn from David his lamp would have been extinguished but the men he trained helped him when he was weak. Invest in people and they will defend you when you are weak. Prayer: father in your mercies do not allow the enemy
Saturday November 16th 2019 Topic: David- A compassionate king Text: 2 Samuel 21: 10-14 Golden text: after that God answered prayer on behalf of the land.2 Samuel 21 :14  It was not God's will or plan that seven innocent men should be murdered, but God is a covenant keeping God. The story of the priest told yesterday, one of the seed of the priest who happened to be a pastor got the revelation of how his father had been killing innocent souls and God told him that he deserved to die too because his ancestors had wasted a lot of lives, when he heard this, he went on his knees and pleaded for mercies for several days and nights and God had compassion on him by preserving his life.    Rizpah the concubine of Saul mourned the death of her sons in an uncommon way which made David to be compassionate, he acted fast, and gave Saul, and all his sons who were murdered a befitting burial and because of this act of compassion God answered the prayer of the nation. Prayer: father in your
Friday November 15th 2019 Topic: God of covenants Text: 2 Samuel 21:1 - 9 Golden text: He handed over them to the Gibeonites who killed and exposed them on a hill before the Lord. 1 Samuel 21:9  A story was told of a priest whose role was to offer strangers as a sacrifice to the gods of the land. In the process of time, he died at a ripe old age but his generation did not live beyond forty years till today.   Our God is a God of covenants, Joshua made a covenant with the people of Gibeonites not to kill them but at a time, Saul out of zeal eliminated them, and years after, the nation was plunged into famine, God was consulted and it was revealed that it was as a result of Saul's mistake. The Gibeonites were summoned and they insisted that seven male children of Saul must die, David granted their wish and the famine stopped.   In everything you are doing remember your children because God is a God of covenants and he respect covenants. Do not sow the seed of evil because your
Thursday November 14th 2019 Topic: The high cost of sin Text:  2 Samuel 13: 1 - 21 Golden text: but when David heard of all these things he was very wroth.  David's act of adultery cost  him so much. Amon his first son raped his younger sister Tamar , Absalom his son murdered Amon in revenge of raping his sister Tamar , his son Absalom overthrew him from the throne, His son Absalom slept with his concubines in a broad day light in front of the whole Israel, his counselor turned against him, he was cursed and stoned by Shimei, He lost his son through adultery act, he ran bare footed out of Israel and slept in the wilderness while his son Absalom reigned in the palace. His house was on fire till he died. Before you sin, remember that sin is costly and you cannot evade the consequences even if God forgives you. Prayer: Father help me to know that sin is costly before I embark on it in Jesus name
Wednesday November 13th 2019 Topic: Take not another man's honour Text: 2 Samuel 12:26-31 Golden text: lest I take the city, and it be called after my name 2 Samuel 12:28  A story was told of a pastor who was sent outside his country to establish a church, on getting there, he established the church and in the process of time the church became a mega church. The pastor eventually changed the name of the church and converted it to his church. After dumpy years, he lost all his children, it was then he remembered his error and sought his senior pastor for restitution.   Only a few men can give honour to the source of their victory when they became great in life. Everyone want his name to be engraved on a marble stone. Joab displayed a great sense of loyalty by requesting for David to come and took the city so that the city will be named in David's name. Joab remembered that he was on the battlefield representing Israel and the king of Israel and not himself. Do not take anot
Tuesday November 12th 2019 Topic: A lesson from David's mourning. Text: 2 Samuel 12: 14-23 Golden Text: can I bring him back again? I shall go to him but he shall not return to me 2 Samuel 12:23   The Bible teaches that we should not mourn as unbelievers but we should mourn as someone who has hope in God's eternity.    David did all he could do to save his child but yet he died. His servants were afraid to deliver the bad news thinking that he would be embittered but to their surprise he summoned courage and ate. When you lost a loved one to death , mourn with eternity in view that the deceased can't longer come back to earth but rather you going back to him. People cry at times as if their tears will bring back the dead, learn from David and mourn hopefully Prayer: Father help me to mourn hopefully when faced with the death of a loved one in Jesus name.
Monday November 11 2019 Topic: God will not despise a contrite heart. Text: 2 Samuel 12:13-15 Golden text: and David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. 2 Samuel 12:13a Nathan delivered a message that could cost him his life if David had not had a broken heart. Naturally no man will be confronted with a message of doom and allow the messenger to go Scott free. No wonder God Called David a man after his own heart. God will not despise a penitent heart, are you living comfortably in sin, the Lord is confronting you to change today and he will forgive you all If only you will come to him with a humble heart and confess it all to him. Prayer: Father give me a penitent heart in Jesus name
Saturday November 9th 2019 Topic: God is not a respecter of person Text:2 Samuel 11:27-12:12 Golden text: but the thing that David had done displeased the LORD 2 Samuel 11:27  God was displeased with David despite the fact that he was a man after God's own heart. God will not bend his rules, standards and principles for anyone. God is not a respecter of persons, no one is above God's law. There is no level a man will get to in his walk with the LORD that God will permit him to indulge in sins. Do not be deceived into believing that there is hyper grace, a grace that permit a man to sin without punishment from God.  God loves us only that he hates sin and no sinner will go unpunished. For every sin there is a consequence. So watch against any form of sin in your walk with LORD Prayer: Father give me the grace to say no to sin everyday of my life in Jesus name
Friday November 8th 2019 Topic: Uriah - a faithful and dedicated soldier. Text: 2 Samuel 11: 6-25 Golden text : shall I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? As thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing. 2 Samuel 11:11  Faithfulness and dedication are values that are rare and only a few men display such a trait. Uriah was one of a kind who was so loyal and dedicated to his country that he sacrificed his comforts for the betterment of his country. Two different things, a king who supposed to be on a battle field was relaxing and having fun at home whereas a soldier called back home from war fronts to enjoy his wife could not even relax but his mind was on the battlefield.    His loyalty and dedication to God and his country saved him from having bastard as a child. David was so amazed about his dedication that he had to arrange his death because that was the only way to cover his sin. Uriah died the death of a hero and God saw to
Thursday November 7th 2019 Topic: Entangled in sin Text: 2 Samuel 11:1 - 5 Memory verse: she came to him and he slept with her 2 Samuel 11:4    No man is immune to sin. Sins are like trap the enemy used to entangle children of God because he knows God hate sins.    Watch your life seriously devil usually strike in unguarded moments when your defence is low and you are non-chalant on vital things . Devil will not strike when you are strong and busy but when you are idled. David was entangled in adultery because he was at the wrong place at the right time. He ought to be on the battlefield but he handed the responsibility to Joab. Relaxation and rest is good but it should be at the right time, do not rest when you ought to be at work because it is dangerous. at times the saying is true, an idle hand is the devil's workshop. Watch it when you are idle because the enemy can entangle you into sin. Prayer: Father keep me from every sin that want to entangle me in Jesus name.
Wednesday November 6th 2019 Topic: Be strong Text: 2 samuel 10:12  A story was told of a woman who was diagnosed of anthritis, after all medications no impovements and she was told that she would have to live with it. his son told her mom be strong you will not die in this sickness. the woman summoned courage and in the process of time she was healed divinely.  life is full of uncertainities, some of the uncertainities are loss of jobs, sickness, demise of a love one and so on which is able to make us loose courage and give up on living. Joab in our text today told Abishai today to fight bravely and be strong. when faced with uncertainities of life, the only option to do is to fight bravely and be strong. "coward die many times before their time" so many people have lost their lives today because they loose courage. Be strong and the LORD will do what is good for you. Prayer: Lord Jesus help me to be strong and courageous when faced with the uncertainties of life in Jesus
Tuesday November 5th 2019 Topic: Good beget good Text: 2 Samuel 9:1-12 Golden text: whom can I show kindness for Jonathan's sake. 2 Samuel 9:1   Good beget good and evil beget evil. When you do good, you are sowing for yourself and your children and if you sow evil, you will reap evil too.  A story was told of a gate man who helped a brother to submit his scholarship application form to his boss when the submission had already closed. This good act made the brother to travel overseas for MSc and PhD respectively. After many years, the brother met the gate man who helped him then and blessed him abundantly beyond the expectations of the gate man. Be kind to everyone and everyone will be kind to you. Mephiboseth, a lame man eventually became someone dining with the king with so many people working under him. Enjoying the preferential treatment because of the good his father  did to David. When you are kind to people around you, you are depositing it into account and one day you
Monday November 4th 2019 Topic: Attracting God's blessings. Text:  2 Samuel 7: 5- 16 A  story was told of a man who was willing to give towards building of a church where he belonged but he did not have any money to contribute at hand so he decided to borrow and use his son as a collateral till he paid back. When the church pastor was told of his great sacrifice, he requested for the boy, prayed for him and prophesied into his life that the nation shall serve him three times.  David was burdened about the house of God and decided to build house for the Lord, he was so determined in carrying it out until God stopped him and promised to make him great and prospered all his seeds.     Do you desire God's blessings too, you can attract it by doing what makes God happy and let Kingdom matters matter in your heart. Prayer: father, let my life begin to attract blessings in Jesus name
Sunday November 3rd 2019 Topic: Davidic praise Text: 1 Samuel 6:, 14-23 Golden Text:  And when she saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD, she despised him in her heart. 2 Samuel 6:16   Few years ago, a king in South western Nigeria went to church for thanksgiving to celebrate his ascension to the throne of his fathers. In the process he prostrated flat on the floor thanking God and some people despised him saying how could a king be prostrating in the church.  David praised the LORD in such a way that he forgot that he was a king. His wife despised him but he kept on celebrating his God. Learn to praise God in an uncommon way and he will bless you in an uncommon way. Prayer: sing songs of Praise to appreciate God in an uncommon way
Saturday November 2nd 2019 Topic: God of wonders Text: 2 Samuel 6:9-12 Golden text: He took it aside to the house of Obed Edom  2 Samuel 6: 9 God is a God of wonders, he is unpredictable and he is mysterious. David was in a dilemma after the demise of Uzzah , he still desired to have the ark of God brought to city where he dwelled but fear gripped him. He eventually told them to take it to Obed Edom  an ordinary wretched servant but to their surprise, he did not die but God blessed him greatly.   Have you been written off that nothing good again can come out of your life?  That is human saying only God has the final say over your life. You are not poor until your end is seen, if you can call on God of wonders and he will turn things around for your good. Prayer: Father, every stubborn situation in my life and family turn it around for good in Jesus name
Friday November 1st 2019 Topic: A costly mistake Text:  2 Samuel 6: 1 - 8 Golden Text: The LORD'S anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act. 2 Samuel 6:7     A story was told of a Doctor who forgot surgical knife in a patient body, and it was just God's mercies that saved the patient. Mistakes are inevitable and no man is above mistakes. David made a mistake by allowing the ark of God to be carried on a cart instead of being carried on shoulders by the Levites who are dedicated for this task. The result was terrific, a day of joy became a day of sorrow, Uzzah lost his life, he touched the ark because the oxen stumbled. He was helping God but unknown to him that he dishonored God by his act. David made a costly mistake and Uzzah paid for it with his life. God is not a respecter of persons, he honour his word and he will not tolerate any disrespectful act. In your happy moments and your saddest moments be careful of any decisions you take because you might mak
Thursday 31st October 2019 Topic: Only God set kings on throne. Text: 2 Samuel 5:1 - 5 Golden text: and they anointed David king over Israel. 2 Samuel 5:3    A story was told of a man who suffered so much in his growing days as a child and a youth. His life was so full of struggles, hardships and pains that people mocked him when he replied them that he is prince and one day he would reign as king. Years rolled on , the Prince had been working , he had even forgotten about the dream of becoming a king when the king makers in the town searched him out to become the new king. It was like a dream to him and people around him.    David through struggles, hardships and pains eventually became a king after seventeen years Samuel anointed him as a king. David becoming a king in Israel truly shows that it is God that set kings on thrones. That God have told you that you will become great in life does not mean at times that it will come to pass just like that. It takes determination, pray
Wednesday 30th October 2019 Topic: Do not eliminate to get to the top Text: 2 Samuel 4: 5-12 Golden text: they brought the head of Ish-bosheth to David at Hebron. 2 Samuel 4:8  There is a popular saying among the yoruba tribe that some people need to be destroyed for some people to rise. This is far from the truth, you don't need to eliminate people to get to the top if the Lord has destined you for a position.  Sometimes ago in Nigeria, a popular politician who was aspiring to be a governor died few months to when he had scheduled to announce his intention to contest governorship in the state. Another politician was murdered in cold blood because he had ambition of becoming governor in another state.   You don't need to kill to have what God has destined for you if it is meant for you. David ensured that he did not stepped on blood to ascend the throne. He dissociated himself from anyone that killed his enemies in order to win his favour No wonder he died peacefully in
Tuesday 29th October 2019 Topic: David mourned Abner's death Text: 2 Samuel 3:31-38 Golden text: The king sang his lament for Abner. 2 Samuel 3:33  It is very unusual and uncommon for a man to mourn his enemy but David mourned Abner because he was a general, commander of the army of Israel whom God had used to win several battles for his father's land. He lamented so much for him that people were pleased that this is the man worthy to be king over us and they knew he was innocent about Abner's death.   David could have ordered the killings of Joab and his brother but they were too strong for him. Moreover they were children of his aunty. All he could do was to hand over their judgement to God.   Have a large heart to accommodate people, do not pull people down to get to the top let God himself place you at the top. Prayer: father give me a large heart to accept all in Jesus name
Monday 28th October 2019 Topic: Revenge begets revenge. Text: 2 Samuel 22 - 30 Golden text: Joab and his brother Abishai murdered Abner because he had killed their brother Asahel in the battle of Gibeon 2 Samuel 3:30  A story was told of a man who lost his parents to armed robbery attack. Years rolled on and he discovered that it was his father's younger brother who sponsored the robbery attacks so as to inherit his father's properties. Instead of taking a legal action or took law into his hands, he committed all to God's hands and few years later his uncle, wife and all his children died in a fatal accident which claimed all their lives.    Joab and his brother took law into their hands and killed Abner because he killed their brother. This might sound good but God hates vengeance. This act of Joab and his brother made him to eventually lost his relevance and greatness in Israel. He eventually died by the sword in years to come reaping the seed of vengeance he sowed.
Sunday 27th October 2019 Topic: when God is working for you Text: 2 Samuel 3 :6-21 Golden text: then Abner said to David, let me go at once and assemble all Israel for my lord to be 2 Samuel 3:21    A story was told by a herbalist convert who was hired to kill a man of God but unfortunately he made a mistake in the process of chanting incantation and in the process he lost his only son.   David was waiting for God to give him the kingdom of Israel at a time that looked as if it was impossible because Saul's son was already reigning and Abner was in charge . David's men could not overpower him they only made his Kingdom weaker by constant wars. God had to move in and caused confusion in  Ish-bosheth 's camp that made Abner to resolve in giving David the kingdom.  When God is working for you, he will make your enemy make costly  mistakes and throw them into confusion. It may appear as if God is slow in his promises but he knows exactly what to do to silent the enemies.
Saturday 26th October 2019  Topic: War leads to bitterness. Text: 2 Samuel 2 :17-27 Golden text: don't you realized that this will end in bitterness. 2 Samuel 2 :26  There are stories of towns and tribes that do not intermarry or trade together in Nigeria as a result of ancient wars which has resulted into generational bitterness.  The men of David took law into their hands as a result of their selfish interest of becoming commander of the army of Israel. The men fought to the extent of brothers pursuing brothers until Abner called them to order. Watch your actions today, so that it will not lead to war and eventually lead to bitterness. Do not because of selfish ambition incite people against each other let God himself set you in high places. Prayer: father put an end to wars and bitterness in our nation in Jesus name
Friday 25th October 2019 Topic: One good turn deserves another. Text: 2 Samuel 2: 4-7 Golden text: May the LORD now show you kindness and faithfulness and I too will show you the same favour because you have done this. 2 Samuel 2:6   A story was told of some students who were looking for water during dry season, on getting to a place to their amazement an old man welcomed them in, allowed them to fetch water and gave them privilege to fetch water at all times. Years roll on, one of the students was a director in a company, in the process of interviewing a job seeker, he discovered that the man was the son of the old man who used to give them water while in school. He was happy and eventually gave the man job who had been looking for job for several years.   The men of Jabesh Gilead put their lives into risk, attacked the Philistines, took the body of Saul and his sons and gave him a befitting burial. What could have made the men of Jabesh Gilead did that? Forty years ago Saul resc
Thursday 24th October 2019 Topic: Let God direct you specifically Text: 2 Samuel 2:1 - 4 Golden text: and the LORD said unto him go up. And he said whither shall I go up ? And he said unto Hebron. 2 Samuel 2:1   A story was told of a president elect in a country who didn't wait to be declared as a winner of the election, declared himself as a winner and he was jailed for that act.    David was not too forward when Saul died, he didn't impose himself as king or declared himself as king but waited for God's direction and leading specifically. The outcome of his actions was productive, his own tribe crowned him as king over them.      Has God told you about something? Do not be eager to rush into it even when you see the green light that it is time to move still ask for specified direction and you will be glad you do. Prayer: father help me to wait on you for directions at all times in Jesus name
Wednesday 22nd October 2019 Topic: The mighty are fallen Text: 2 Samuel 1:17 - 27 Golden text: How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle!  2 Samuel 1:25     Sometimes in December 2014, A great man of God, his wife and members of his team had a air crash  on a way to minister and they died instantly. It was a sad news that how could a mighty man of God died just like that.    Saul and Jonathan were mighty men of God, they were great warriors, David described them in his tribute and lamentation that they were swifter than eagles and stronger than lions. What a wonderful and great description. The mighty are falling, no man is immune to falling but let us stand firmly in God till the end. Prayer: Lord Jesus help me not to fall in the midst of the battles of life in Jesus name
Tuesday 22nd October 2019 Topic: Beware of playing to the gallery. Text: 2 Samuel 1:1-16 Golden text: and David said unto him thy blood be upon thy head. 2 Samuel 1:16   So many a people are in the habit of playing to the gallery so as to win favour of men but this can be dangerous and disastrous at times.               An Amalekite who wanted David's favour came to David with the false news that he killed Saul to his greatest surprise, David could not hold it and cried bitterly. The man thought David would be happy, celebrated him but instead David commanded his men to kill him for killing an anointed men of God. Are you in the habit of falsifying news so as to gain favour and popularity. Watch it because you may die untimely like this Amalekite. Prayer: Lord deliver me from false and deceit in Jesus name
Monday 21st October 2019 Topic: Mission accomplished. Text: Nehemiah 12:27-30 Golden text: and were brought to Jerusalem to celebrate joyfully the dedication with songs of thanksgiving and with the music of cymbals, harps and lyres Nehemiah 12:27 The end of a thing is better than the beginning of a thing. Despite all oppositions, the rebuilding became a success. Determination with prayer and diligence usually lead to success. Nehemiah had enough reasons to be discouraged and abandoned the project but he kept on going even when the going was tough. And the end of the whole rebuilding process was celebration Are you presently frustrated, thinking about abandoning the project, encourage yourself and move on. A vision is not realistic until it becomes accomplished. Prayer: father let every good mission I embark on end in praise and success in Jesus name.
Sunday 20th October 2019  Topic: Retrace your steps back to God. Text: Nehemiah 9: 1-3 Golden text: and spent another quarter in confession and in worshipping the Lord their God. Nehemiah 9:3 Rebuilding the walls is not enough, Nehemiah called Ezra the priest to read the Torah, and in the process the people discovered that they had sinned greatly. This made them to be broken, sorrowful and confessed their sins. What made the wall to fall was sin, and rebuilding without addressing the cause of it will make it a futile task. Many a times we are more concerned about getting healed from sickness, getting a job and relief from life problem without knowing that getting all this relief without Christ will make the problem re-appear again. Deliverance without genuine repentance is a waste of time. Is the wall of your life broken down by sin, confessand repent from sin and God will fix back the broken wall. Prayer: Lord Jesus help me to retrace my steps back to you in any area i might
Saturday 19th October 2019  Topic: A failed scheme Text: Nehemiah 6:1-14 Golden text:but they were scheming to harm me. Nehemiah 6:2  Devil is an expert at manipulation and scheming. having tried mockery, ridicule, threat, Tobiah and Sanballat resulted into scheme to harm Nehemiah. Nehemiah was the Foreman, strike the Shepherd and the sheep would scatter, they knew if they could get Nehemiah down, the rebuilding process would be all over. The prayer of the righteous man avail much, all their schemes to harm Nehemiah failed.   You need God, there is a level diligence can take you too, so many people have climbed the ladder of success and they fell because they thought diligence and skills is enough. The only way the scheme of the enemy to harm or stop you can fail is for you to be fpraying at all times. Failure to pray can make you to be a prey to the enemy's scheme. Prayer: Father help me not to be a victim of the enemy's scheme in Jesus name
Friday 18th October 2019 Topic: Timely restructuring Text: Nehemiah 5: 1-19 Golden text: then I summoned the priests and made the nobles and officials take an oath to do what they had promised. Nehemiah 5:12 The land had been deeply eaten by corruption, the rich are siphoning the poor and they are becoming richer. The rich and the nobles of the land are enslaving the poor. Nehemiah was angry to see this and he used his position to effect a timely restructuring that changed the economy of the land. We need men like Nehemiah in our nation, men of influence, wealth and fear of God who will rebuild the walls of our nation that has been broken down by corruption and bad leadership. True restructuring start from you, in your own sphere of influence do it right and the long expected positive change shall become a reality. Prayer: Father restructure the economy and political system of our nation in Jesus name
Thursday 17th October 2019 Topic Resisting opposition Text: Nehemiah 4: 1-23 Golden text: From that day on, half of of my men did the work, while the other were equipped wish Spears, shields and armour Nehemiah 4:16 Every good work will always have opposition. If you embark on any mission and there is no opposition probably it is not a good course.   At every phase of Nehemiah mission, there was an obstacle, they first mocked and ridiculed him thinking that he would stop but when they discovered that he was too determined and continued with the rebuilding process they decided to advance from mockery and ridicule into threatening his life and the lives of his team. At this point, it was enough to stop but they resisted by working with their tools and at the same time with weapons for self defence . Instead of being afraid they decided to arm themselves and continued with the work.  The enemy plan and strategy is for you to stop that good project that you have embarked on, and that
Wednesday 16th October 2019 Topic: Ignore mockers Text: Nehemiah 2:19-20 Golden text: .. They mocked and ridicule us. Nehemiah 2:19   Nehemiah was determined to rebuild the walls with his team despite oppositions, critics, and mockery. They were doing all these to stop them but they ignored it all. Tuesday 15th October 2019 Topic: Ignore mockers Text: 1 Samuel 2:19-20 Golden text: .. They mocked and ridicule us. Nehemiah 2:19   Nehemiah was determined to rebuild the walls with his team despite oppositions, critics, and mockery. They were doing all these to stop them but they ignored it all. What a determination.   Are you facing ridicule, mockery in the cause of doing the right thing, stick to it and see  all the mockery, ridicule as noises. Monday 14th October 2019 Topic: Be a burden sharer Text: Nehemiah 2:11-18 Golden text:  ... And they said, let us rise up and build. Nehemiah 2:18 Nehemiah did not do it all alone, after surveying the broken walls for days, he looked for those that matters in the land and he shared his burden with them. After sharing it, the people were the first to say let us build it together. Nehemiah did not have I will win mentality like many people but he had a we will win mentality. Burden are meant to be shared, don't carry it all alone, you need people to fulfill your God given purpose and vision. Sharing your burden make the work faster, reduce stress, energy and elongate life span. Prayer: Father help me to be a burden sharer in Jesus name
Sunday 13th October 2019 Topic: Silencing enemies of your welfare Text: Nehemiah 4:10 Your sadness at times make some people happy. Some people are happy that you are indebted to them, they know if you make it today there is no way they can profit from your interests again. Even as a country, wicked people prosper where there is corruption and bad leadership. And they will never pray for the nation to be free from corruption and bad leadership. These set of people were Sanballat and Tobiah. They were grieved that Nehemiah had come to seek the welfare of the Israelites. Nehemiah ignored them and continued with his good work.   One of the way to silence enemies of your welfare is to go on with your good work, ignore them and act as if they do not exist. Prayer: Father silence every enemy of my welfare in Jesus name
Saturday 12th October 2019  Topic: Walk the talk  Text: Nehemiah 2: 1 -  9 Golden text: and I said to the king , if it please the King,  and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my father's sepulchers,  that I may build it. Nehemiah 2:5   Talking is not enough, burden is not enough, prayer is not enough until you take actions. Nehemiah disposition had changed, his mood had changed that the king noticed it, and it's unethical to appear before the king sad being the cup bearer. He was at the risk of losing his job and his life but God's mercies spoke for him. He was already afraid but to his surprise the king had compassion on him and granted all his request.  God had prepared the way for Nehemiah in his prayers but if he didn't walk the talk nothing would be done.  Prayer: Father help me to take actions when necessary in Jesus name
Friday 11th October 2019 Topic: Rebuilding the wall through intercessory prayers Text: Nehemiah 1:5-11 Golden text: O Lord,  I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant. Nehemiah 1:11  Weeping is not enough,Nehemiah did not stop at Weeping, he called on God who is able to help. Prayer is asking God to do what only him alone can do. Nehemiah settled it all in prayer before embarking on any actions, he poured out his burden on to God, do not just be burdened for nothing but carry the burden to the Lord in prayers Sometimes during the reign of the dreaded dictator in Nigeria, Nigerians prayed and at the verge of the dictator becoming a democratic ruler, God struck him with death. God still answer prayers, it's high time we lifted our voices in prayers to God to restore the glory of this nation back and deliver our land from terrorism and attacks. Prayer: Father rebuild the broken wall of our nation in Jesus name
Thursday 10th October, 2019 Topic: Is it nothing to you? Text: Nehemiah 1:1-4 Golden text: and it came to pass when I heard these words , that I sat down and wept. Nehemiah 1:4 Nehemiah demonstrated what patriotism is all about. He was living in affluence and every good thing he wanted was at the tip of his fingers in a foreign land yet he wept when he heard that the walls of his own city of God had broken down. What seemed to be nothing to others burdened him because of his zeal and love for God. Is it nothing to you that your country is wasting away? Is it nothing to you that the labours of our heroes is gradually becoming vain? Is it nothing to you that the wall of the nation is gradually broken down by Corruption and other social vices?  It is time to rise, wake up from your comfort zone and do all you can for your nation to rise again. Prayer: Father burden those that matters in our nation to do that which is right in Jesus name
Wednesday 9th October 2019 Topic: Do not just hear but take to heart. Text: Revelation 1:1-3 Golden text: blessed are those who hear it and take to heart. Revelation 1:3    The WORD of God is powerful and sharper by two edged sword. It is by the word of God that we are saved and it is by the word of God we grow to become more like Christ.   We have so many preachers of God today but only a few have the word of life. So many are preaching what the congregation want to hear and not what God want them to hear. This is a generation of itching ears and they have their own preachers. The word of God today is that the time is near, do not just hear or read the word of God but let it have a place in your heart so that it can guide you in this sinful world. Prayer: Father help me not to just hear the word of God but to put it into act in Jesus name
Tuesday 8th October 2019 Topic: God of the present, God of the past and God of the future. Text: Revelation 1:4-5 Golden text : Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come.   There are so many gods but there is only one living God. The so called gods were once humans and they all had Graves. In other words they all existed for a while and they were no more. They all had a time frame. But there is God who is not limited by human time frame, he had been and he will continue to be. Do you trust in other gods ? Do you believe in yourself? All will failed except God because he is unlimited that is why he is able to give grace and peace in abundance to all that seek him. Have you been deceived in believing that other gods can help? Repent and seek God today. Prayer: The unlimited God visit me today in Jesus name
Monday 7th October 2019 Topic: You are a king and priest. Text: Revelation 1:6  A story was told of a man who was suffering, he was raised by a single mom who was kidnapped away from his husband with pregnancy but one day his story changed when he discovered that one of the richest men in the country was his father. His father accepted him because he had no male son and he had been looking for this man for years.   The moment you discover as a child of God that you are a king and a priest, the way you live your life will change, you will not talk anyhow, eat anyhow or indulge in sin because you are important to God. Your identity in God is king and priest, God see you as a king and a priest and he expects you to live and act as king and priest in Christ Jesus. Prayer: Father help me not to loose my identity in you in Jesus name.
Sunday 6th October 2019 Topic: The certainty of the coming of Jesus Christ Text: Revelation 1: 7-8 Golden text:  Look he is coming with the clouds. Revelation 1:7   sometimes ago, a man was preaching aloud repent, Jesus is coming soon, and a passer-by replied him " is every day your Jesus is coming, stop deceiving us, they have been preaching that since I was born and yet Jesus has not come , please preach something else"   Many  people do not want to hear Jesus is coming again, but that is nothing but the truth. The coming of the Lord is certain, our text today say it emphatically, that Jesus has not come does not mean he is no longer coming, he is tarrying because of his mercies. It is God's desire that all should be saved, and that is why you are hearing it again Jesus is coming soon, amend your ways because rapture is real. Prayer: Father help me to be rapture conscious in the way I live my life in Jesus name.
Saturday 5th October 2019 Topic: The alpha and the Omega. Text: Revelation 1:8 Some years ago I was on a visit to the hospital, a old man was on the bed, as I was interacting with him, he told me there is nothing that has a beginning that will not end. Few days later the man passed on. Jesus Christ declared in our text today that he is the alpha and the Omega. Alpha is the first letter of a Greek alphabet while omega is the last letter of Greek alphabet. Jesus is the only person that knows the end from the beginning, and he knows the beginning from the end, no wonder he further said he is, he was, and he is to come. So many people are confused, fear of unknown is killing people, but the answer is in Christ if you can repent and follow him. He will surely give you rest on this earth and you will have a good ending. It is those that have good ending that will have eternal rest. Prayer: Father in your mercies give me a good ending in Jesus name.
Friday 4th October 2019 Topic:  Is your first love intact? Text: Revelation 2:1 - 4 Golden text:  because thou hast left thy first love. Revelation 2:4    Our God desires a relationship from us. Just like two lovers, in the beginning of the love, they can spend hours together. A man told his love story that in those days when he was dating his wife, he would see his wife off trekking kilometers to car park and it would appear as if he did not trek at all. Another woman asked a question in the church that she discovered that the love her husband had for her was not as when they were courting.       As  the woman was bothered so is Jesus bother and seriously concern about our love for him. In those early days when we gave our lives to Christ, we were always eager to tell someone about Christ, spent hours in church and it seemed like minutes. Now, we don't even witness again and hardly do we attend weekly services again. Jesus is asking you today, is your first love Intact? Praye
Thursday 3rd October 2019 Topic: David's hall of fame. Text: 2 Samuel 23:8-39 Golden text:these are the names of David's mighty men.2 Samuel 23:8 A seminary president in one of the countries in Africa was recently given an international award. After receiving the award he brought out set of awards and appreciate men that worked with him in the process of receiving the award. One thing is common to all of the thirty seven, they are men of courage. They risked their lives for their Country, they put their nation first, they sacrificed their comfort, pleasures, they were ordinary men but their acts made them mighty in life. And not only that their names were engraved on marble stone. They were the hall of fame in their generation. What makes a man great in life is the number of great men that surrounded him. These are the men that matters to David's ministry and before he died, he recognized them and tell the whole world that these are the people that God surrounded me w
Wednesday 2nd October 2019 Topic: Danger of Compromise. (2) Text: Revelation 2:18 Golden text: nevertheless I have this against you Revelation 2:20 This was a letter to the church in Thyatira,  similar to the letter to the church in Pergamum. This church was commended for his deeds which were love, faith service and perseverance but was guilty of accommodating and tolerating evil in their midst. This woman called Jezebel was an influential woman in the church but a seductress, causing the servants of God to fall. The church could not check her, a power broker and highly immoral.  We have many Jezebel in our churches today that church Pastor are tolerating in the name of diplomacy. God is saying that it is a compromise, stop tolerating her, resist her in actions and prayers. A yeast in the bread makes it swell, such people are like satanic virus that need to be removed so that they will not infect the whole church with sin. Father uproot every satanic agent spreading virus of sin
Tuesday 1st October 2019 Topic: Danger of Compromise (1) Text: Revelation 2:12-17 Golden Text: nevertheless I have a few things against you Revelation 2:14   This was a letter the church in Pergamum, Christ had commended the church for their faithfulness in the midst of persecutions but yet he had few things against them and that is what you called diplomacy but Christ said it was a Compromise by tolerating false teachers in their midst. Many times we are guilty of that too as church and individuals.  God might be telling you to confront someone teaching heresies in the church but you are afraid because he is one of the great financiers of the church. Christ may be telling you to quit that job or relationship but you are ignoring because of the benefits you are deriving from it. The word of God for you today is repent and do the necessary amendments before it is too late. Prayer: Father help me not to tolerate sin but to do away with it in Jesus name
Monday 30th September 2019 Topic: Hold on to your salvation till the end Text: Revelation 2: 24 - 28 Golden Text: to him who overcomes and does my will to the end. I will give authority over the nations. Revelation 2:25  A story was told of a young Christian sister who was dying of sickness, all medication has been used but to no avail. Her parents decided to consult a powerful traditional priest, the Herbalist told her parents to tell her to deny Christ because he saw a bright light hindering his divination, her parents pleaded that she should decline Christ so that she can be healed after several persuasions, she renounced Christ, the light went off, in the process of divination, the sister died.  In the letter to the church of Thyatira, Jesus warned the people to hold on to their salvation till he comes in midst of false teachings and high immorality. Regardless of what you may be passing through do not give up your salvation because the Kingdom of God awaits you. Prayer: Fat
Sunday 29th September 2019 Topic: Wake up Text: Revelation 3:1-7 Golden Text: wake up!  Strengthen what remains and is about to die. Revelation 3:2  The life and journey of a Christian is synonymous to an athlete on a marathon race that does not know when it will ends because he can't see the finishing line. In the process, there are tendencies to be wearied, tired, slumber or fall by the road side. Jesus Christ know all these and that is why he is saying that you should wake up and continue the race though you had a record of preaching to millions of soul, and God had used you to heal several people but presently nothing is happening and that is why God is calling you just like he called the church in Sardis to wake up!  Wake up, repent, stick to the word of God that you have received and continue running your race till the end. Prayer: Father help me to wake up wherever I have been sleeping in my walk with you in Jesus name
