The mighty also fall

Thursday 13th February, 2020 Topic: The mighty also fall. Text: 2 Samuel 1:17 - 27 Golden Text: " How the mighty have fallen in battle! Jonathan lies slain on your heights It is a proper thing to write tribute on condolence book of a friend or a loved one. This tribute usually reflect admiration, respect, praise and great impact such people make in our lives. David in his own time compose a short poem otherwise known as ode to show his respect, love and great admiration for Saul and his friend Jonathan. In this poem we discovered that Jonathan was a great warrior,  skillful in the use of arms and specially trained at fighting on high places such as hills, mountains, he won great battles on the hills but the mystery about his death was that he was killed in his area of expertise and specialization. No matter how mighty a man a may be he will definitely fall without God the giver of strength and power. Your knowledge, strength, power, fame, wealth will fail you on the day of tr

Watch and Pray

Wednesday 12th February, 2020 Watch and Pray Text: Matthew 26:36-44 Memory verse: watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak. Matthew 26:41   The final moment of a man is very important because he have seen the end. Certain words will come from his mouth because  he is seeing what others are not seeing. During the last moment of Jesus with his disciples at the garden of Gethsemane, he settled it all on the knees to the extent that his sweat was like drops of  blood falling on the ground but his disciples were sleeping. The disciples were sleeping because they did not see what Jesus was seeing. This prompted Jesus to say watch and pray... Jesus saw trials that awaited him, he saw the pains and burden of sin he had to take, he saw the crucifixion, he saw the agonies, he was almost giving up to the flesh but on his knees his spirit man was strengthen to move on with courage. Jesus was able to see because he was not asleep.

Do not be greedy

Monday 9th March 2020 Topic: Do not be greedy. Text: Genesis 13:1-18 Golden Text: Gen 13:11 So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. Gen 13:11      A greedy person always want the best and all for himself alone without considering others. In the dictionary of a greedy man only "I" alone is there. Abraham gave up his right so that there could be peace. whatever Lot was, Abraham made him yet he was humble enough to give Lot the privilege to choose first but the greediness in Lot raised it's head  and he chose the best for himself not thinking of his Uncle and his Uncle accepted it. God saw all these, he moved in and told Abraham to look, Lot was only seeing things appealing to his physical eyes and with his limited understanding he chose what seemed best to him. Abraham looked and God told him that as far as he could see has been given to him.         When you are greedy, you have shut the door of God's help. what seemed to

When the going gets tough

Sunday 8th March 2020 Text: Genesis 12:10-20 Topic: When the going gets tough Golden Text: Now there was a famine in the Land, and Abram went down to Egypt to live there for a while because the famine was severe.        There is a saying that when the going gets tough, it is only the the tough that gets going. And also tough times never last but tough people do. Being in God's will does not mean you will not face difficult times. obedience to God does not mean you will not experience troubles and pains. some believe that when you are passing through difficult times, it means that you are not in God's will for your life. This assertion is not always true.        Abraham obeyed God, he was in Cannan , famine struck there and Abraham went to Egypt which eventually added more sorrows into his life.      When the going gets tough, do not quit, gets tough in the word of God and keeps going. Hard times prove whether you are a Christian or not. it is in facing the challenge that

Let God pilot your life

Saturday 7th March 2020 Text: Genesis 12:1-9 Topic: Let God pilot your Life. Golden Text: The Lord said to Abraham, leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land that I will show you. Genesis 12:1   No matter how good a aircraft may be, it still requires a pilot to fly it. without a pilot in control, it would either fly uselessly in a straight line or spiral out of control. Either of the way a devastating crash is inevitable.      God has created us with more technicalities and complexities much more greater than the best aircraft in the world. we cannot afford to live our lives as we want without knowing the one who created us and follow his instructions. if there is anything humans dislike is to be controlled. man always want to exercise his free will.     To journey in this world successfully you have to submit yourself to God and allow him to pilot you through this life or else a crash would be inevitable. God's instructions do not usua

The power of unity

Friday 6th March 2020 Topic: The power of unity. Text: Genesis 11:1-9 Golden text: ..then nothing they plan would be impossible for them Gen 11:6   unity is one, to be unified is to speak one language. To be unified is to have one mind and one vision.    The power of unity is found in oneness, God knew this and that was why he stopped the people who were building a tower that would reach heaven. our unity lies in coming together as one with one mind and one voice so that we can accomplish the great commission. The church is divided and it is becoming difficult to pull down the gates of hell because we have refused to maximize the power in unity.   Let us come together in unity and win the world for Christ, there is little a denomination or group can do but we can accomplish greater things for Christ if we can come together as one in Christ. Prayer: Father make your church one as you are one in Jesus name.

Have a large heart

Tuesday 10th March 2020 Topic: Have a large heart. Text Genesis 14:13-16 Golden Text: one who had escaped came and reported this to Abram the Hebrew. Genesis 14:13    To have a large heart is the ability to accommodate both good and bad people. It is also the ability to easily forgive people and not taking revenge. Abram got the news that his nephew had been dispossessed of all that he had laboured for. This was the Nephew that took the best land for himself,he could have said that served him right but on the contrary Abram set out with his armed men to recover all that has been dispossessed from his nephew. This virtue is rare, God want us to have  large heart to all and we should not mock people that have done us wrong when evil befall them but we should rather assist them. This act will portray us as children of God. prayer: Lord Give me a large heart to accommodate all in Jesus name.

Not by might nor by power

Wednesday 11th March 2020 Topic: Not by might nor by power Text: Genesis 14: 1-16 Golden Text: Gen 14:14 When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained men born in his household and went in pursuit as far as Genesis 14:14    Victory belongs to the Lord, five Kings were defeated by four Kings and three hundred and eighteen men defeated four Kings. what makes the difference was the presence of God that the three hundred and eighteen men carried. no matter how trained and equipped your enemies might be, they would fail if they attacked you provided the presence of God is with you.   Do not depend on your skills, knowledge, power and strength. it may fail you without God. Stop depending on your power, skills, abilities and start depending on God who cannot fail. prayer: LORD help me to trust you and not in my power or strength in Jesus name

Locate your Melchizedek

Friday 13th March, 2020  Topic: Locate your Melchizedek Text: Genesis 18:14-20 Golden Text:... And he blessed Abraham. Genesis 14:19      Some years ago,  A pastor who had been  struggling to make a living and yet faithful to his God received an unknown visitor,  he was about to eat,  he welcomed the man and offered the man his food,  the visitor was surprised at his kind act. After they ate together, the visitor pronounced blessings on the man and by the time the man would look up after the prayers, he could not see the man again. After that experience, the pastor's life was changed for the best and his ministry became great.     Abram was a man that God had promised to make a nation, he is aged but the promise appeared to be like a Mirage but miracle happened when he met a man named Melchizedek  who blessed him and from that day, the promises of God began to fulfill in his life.    For God's promise to become a reality in your life, you need to locate your Melchizedek

Let God be your reward

Thursday 12th March 2020 Topic: Let God be your reward Text: Genesis 15:1      Abraham won a great battle and he returned all the spoils without taking anything for himself, what he could have taken he gave it back to God as a tithe. After all these God told him that he is his shield and reward.    Work in such a way that you are not after an award but you are much more interested in affecting lives positively then it is only God that will be  your reward. Man gives award  but God gives reward. Man's award can never commensurate the efforts you have put in and it's temporary. God's reward is eternal that your unborn generation will benefit from. Labour to get God's reward and not man's award. Prayer: Jesus help me not to miss your reward in Jesus name.

Do not settle for alternatives

Thursday 5th March 2020 Topic: Do not settle for alternatives Text:Genesis 16:1-6 Golden Text:so she said to Abram, "The LORD has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my maidservant; perhaps I can build a family through her." Abram agreed to what Sarai said.Gen 16:2      Sarah thought she could help herself by following the custom of the land which is against the will of God and Abraham thought that could be God's way of blessing him but they all missed it.      In life never settle for option B, if you cannot get it done in God's way then don't work it out in your own way because it may be dangerous for you. Prayer: Lord help me not to settle for alternatives in my walk with you in Jesus name.

God desires the best for you

Saturday 14th March 2020 Topic: God desires the best for you. Text : Genesis 17:17-27 Golden Text: Daily insight with God Saturday 14th March 2020 Topic: God desires the best for you. Text : Genesis 17:17-27 Golden Text: Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, "Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?"Genesis 17:17    Abraham had settled for Ismael as the best God would give him,  after fourteen years God appeared to him and told him that Issac was his best for him. Abraham laughed it out because it is medically impossible for a man who is one hundred years and a woman of ninety years to give birth.    Whatever best God desire for you he will do it for you in his own time. Wait for him patiently and you will be glad you do. Prayer: Father help me to wait for the best you desire for me in Jesus name.     Abraham had settled for Ismael as the best God would give him,  after fourteen years God appea

The power of intercessory prayers

Wednesday 4th March 2020 Topic: The power of intercessory prayers. Text:Genesis 18:23-33      Imagine what could have happened if Abraham did not intercede for Lot, Lot could have died with the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.     The power of intercessory prayer is that it avail much, it save lives, it is like a fire you never can tell how far it will reach. There is power when you kneel down before God and express your concern about the people around you. It is our duty to intercede for others and in the course of doing that God will raise intercessors for us too. Prayer:Lord Jesus activate the power of intercession in me in Jesus name.
