TEXT: Psalm 23 vs 1

Psalms 23:1

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

TOPIC: Lessons from the good shepherd (1)

The song ( psalm 23) was written by David and he employed a literary device known as allegory to convey lessons via the imagery of a shepherd . Understanding the role of a shepherd in an ancient near East culture will give you a perfect understanding of the message David was conveying via the most popular song of David.

The shepherd provides food for the sheep. It is his primary assignment. What the sheep will eat is not its business but that of the shepherd . Having that understanding gives you the confidence that you are the sheep and God who is your Shepherd will ensure you are well fed and you shall not experience lack as far as feeding is concerned . In a time like this let your confidence be in God that he will take care of what you will eat. He is the shepherd of your soul and he will take good care of you.

Action point: God is your shepherd and he will take care of all your needs.

Prayer: Father help me to be confident in you at all times that you are my good shepherd.
