TEXT: 1 KINGS 21: 1-10
TOPIC: CONTENTMENT (4)
KEY VERSE :1 KINGS 21:6
And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.
He was a King and resided in Samaria the capital city of Northern Israel. He was rich, comfortable and wealthy. He had many vineyards but preferred a common man's vineyard with an excuse that his vineyard was closer to his palace. He lost his peace because the man refused to sell or took another in exchange for his father's inheritance. His wife saw his countenance, arranged the death of the man and told him to go over and possessed his vineyard . He was sold out to do evil that he went out in his majesty to take over what did not belong to him without any conscience pricking him. God was very angry and sent out his Prophet to deliver fierce verdict on him and his descendants. He was sobered and sought repentance from God. God decided not to bring the evil verdict of death in his lifetime but in the reign of his son.
The king was Ahab, his wife name was Jezebel, the man was Naboth and the Prophet was Elijah. This biblical story clarifies that you can still be wealthy and still not be contented with your possessions. Contentment is a choice that bring happiness and save you from unnecessary evil that will make you loose your peace and get your hands to evil that will bring everlasting curse on one's life and his unborn generation.
Prayer: Father I choose to be contented with all you have blessed me with in Jesus name.
