LESSONS FROM THE PRODIGAL SON (9)

 DAILY INSIGHT WITH GOD

FRIDAY 22ND NOVEMBER ,2024

TEXT: Luke 15:25-32

[25]Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.

[26]And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.

[27]And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.

[28]And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.

[29]And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:

[30]But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.

[31]And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.

[32]It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

TOPIC: LESSON FROM THE PRODIGAL SON (9)

God’s nature is different from man’s nature. God is not man and man is not God. If God were man, the prodigal son would be disown and condemned to prison. The prodigal son obtained mercies and was restored into the fold as if nothing happened. He was robed, decorated and celebrated in a big way beyond his understanding.

Men were not happy that he obtained mercy. His own brother was furious at the father’s treatment of him. He expressed his anger to him and used that opportunity to request for better treat. It was saddening that the elder brother did not know that all his father had belong to him until he was told. The younger brother knew what the elder brother did not know, he knew his inheritance, rights, privileges as a son which the elder brother did not understand fully. Jesus used the parable to illustrate God’s overwhelming love for a truly repented soul which is beyond human understanding. As believers let us be happy when wretched sinners surrender their lives to God, let us welcome them with joy and celebrate them.

Action point: what you have may not be beneficial to know you until you know it’s importance.

Prayer: Father let your mercies speak for me where men have condemned me in Jesus name
