TEXT: Matthew 27:3-5
[3]Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
[4]Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
[5]And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
TOPIC: A WASTED PURPOSE
A Known purpose can be wasted when you did not value it and you are more concerned about your immediate needs. Judas labored with Jesus for about three and half years, he was one of the foundational Apostles, he saw purpose in Christ, he left all and followed Jesus. At a point in his life, greed and covetousness set in, he was stealing from the ministry purse, he was much more concerned about what he would gain from Jesus’s ministry.
He simply lost focus, his purpose in christ meant nothing to him again and was willing to trade his purpose in Christ for thirty pieces of silver. He didn’t believe that Jesus would be arrested and killed. His greediness caught up with him, he lost his place in the Apostleship ministry, he sought it with tears but it was too late. He committed suicide and he ended up wasting his purpose and destiny in Christ. Guard your purpose in Christ, set your heart above and not on worldly things that can distract you from purpose. Learn from Judas who out of greed and covetousness wasted his purpose.
Prayer: Father help me not to trade my purpose with silver and gold in Jesus name.
