TEXT: Judges 16:4-5

[4]And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.

[5]And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.

TOPIC: Diverted purpose

Distraction is a tool to divert a man’s purpose , it can come in many forms, the sole aim is to divert a man from his purpose and render him useless. Samson was a victim of this. Samson was recorded as the strongest man that ever lived, he was born a Nazirite, he knew his life purpose was to deliver his people from the oppression of philistines. He was purpose driven until he decided to have a life partner. He wanted a wife from the Philistines against the wish of his parents despite the warnings of his parents, he proceeded but the wedding eventually ended in chaos.

In the cause of advancing his purpose, the love for strange women set in, from one brothel to another till he found Delilah, the woman she loved . With Delilah, he completely lost focus, he was so relaxed with her that nothing was heard about his purpose again. His purpose was diverted by distraction from strange woman. His lust for strange women caught up with him as he lost his consecration, lost his two eyes and subjected to ridicule. His purpose was diverted from a deliverer to an Entertainer. To avoid your purpose from being diverted, let your eyes be on the goal and do everything possible to avoid distraction that that can shift your focus from the goal.

Prayer: Father help me to be focused and do not allow me to be a victim of those who are determined to divert my purpose in Jesus name.
