TEXT: 2 Kings 8:4-5
[4]And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.
[5]And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.
TOPIC: A diverted purpose (2)
A purposeful life entails fulfilment of destiny. Purpose can be traded for fame, wealth and riches. Some have allowed greed and covetousness to derail them from purpose. As a result of this they have been diverted from a life of purpose.
Gehaz was a great prophet of God, very sensitive and was in position to receive double portion of Elisha’s anointing. He allowed greed and covetousness to derail him from purpose when he used his master’s name to collect riches from Naaman. Elisha didn’t take it lightly with him, he cursed him and made him leprous. He could not perform the prophetic role again, only to be later seen as a story teller in the king’s palace. Guard your purpose from greed , covetousness and take charge of your destiny by being conscious of decisions that can derail you from your purpose.
Prayer: Father deliver me from spirit of greed and covetousness that want to derail me from purpose in Jesus name.
