GREEDINESS (5)
DAILY INSIGHT WITH GOD
FRIDAY 27TH AUGUST,2021
TEXT: 2 KINGS 5: 20 -27
KEY VERSE : 2Ki 5:20
Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said to himself, "My master was too easy on Naaman, this Aramean, by not accepting from him what he brought. As surely as the LORD lives, I will run after him and get something from him."
TOPIC: GREEDINESS (5)
Gehaz was meant to be one of the greatest prophets that ever lived. He was very sensitive to the need of others that his master at times relied on his prophetic intelligence and acumen. He should have received another double portion of Elisha's anointing and did greater miracles in his own generation. Unfortunately for him Elisha went to the grave with the supernatural anointing to the extent that a dead man mistakenly buried in his grave rose again.
Gehaz served his master with all diligence and he was always there to assist him. At a time he lost patience, he was tired of the simple life of a prophet, he wanted to get rich quick and became a wealthy prophet. He became greedy and was looking for every opportunity to amass wealthy for himself. The opportunity came, he used his master's name to amass wealth at a time when Elisha was showing forth the power of God of Israel that heals without collecting a dime. Gehaz got more than he bargained for. He got the wealth but with a leprosy on himself and his descendants. He was cut off from the prophetic line and ended up a story teller.
Greediness cost Gehaz his prophetic office, his health a curse on himself and his generations. Greediness comes with a high cost. Avoid it by all means, embrace godliness and contentment which is a great gain.
Prayer: I shall not fall into pit of greediness in Jesus name.
