HANDLING DEPRESSION (7)

 DAILY INSIGHT WITH GOD

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 27TH,2020

TEXT: 1 KINGS 19:8-15

TOPIC: HANDLING DEPRESSION (7)

KEY VERSE: 1Ki 19:18

Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel--all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and all whose mouths have not kissed him."

Depression have a way of making you think that you are the only one passing through that problem.it makes one feel lonely, abandoned , distressed, and feel sorry for oneself.

Elijah was in this state, God was surprised to see him and the first question he asked him was  "what are you doing here Elijah? " Elijah was expecting God to pity his condition. God was not moved by his story. He told him to stand before the mountain and right there he saw different revelations of God. Again he asked him "what are you doing here"? He repeated the same story and God told him to get back to work. God made Elijah realized that he was not the only one doing it right but there are others there who have not bowed down to Baal. If God kept them how much more he would not keep him.

When you are depressed do not yield to the temptation that you are the only one faithful. Don't allow self pity, it will render your good works inactive. Be assured even if you don't know who they are, others are faithfully obeying God and fulfilling his duties. Depression want to press you down but do not allow it by saying no to negative emotions and getting back to that which you are doing because it is not yet over for you until God says it is over.

Prayer: I receive grace to walk on every depression into victory in Jesus name.
