Daily insight with God
Monday 27th July, 2020
Text: Matthew 5:1-2
Topic:The sermon on the Mount
Key verse: And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: Matthew 5:1a
The longest recorded sermon of Jesus was preached on a mountain to his disciples and not crowd. He walked away from the crowd and taught his disciples the attitude that is expected of a believer. Our happiness lies in doing what God have told us to do. Before blessings there are instructions to be met. He carefully taught his disciples for hours so that they can understand the precept and the principles of the kingdom of God.
Anointing usually draw the crowd a result of miraculous honoured ministry. Anointing can draw one to Christ but it takes the Holy Spirit to convict one to be a believer. The making of disciple involve teaching about what matters in the kingdom, teaching is not enough until one does it. Doing what Christ teaches makes one a disciple. The mountain experience was not easy for them considering the harsh weather conditions, the crowd will only go to mountain for a miracle or free food but only disciples will go to the mount and learn from the master's feet.
To be deep in Christ, you have to create time to fellowship with him in his presence and learn at his feet so that we can be like him . Hearing and listening is not enough but committing ourselves to do that which we have learned and studied at his presence
Prayer: Father help me to abide in your secret place all the days of my life in Jesus name.
