Text: Hebrews 12:1-4
Topic: Run with patience (2)
Key verse: And let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Heb12:1b
A long distant race is not what you run briskly but with patience. If you take it fast, you will get tired soon but if you take it slow and steady victory is ascertained. The Christian race involves enduring persecution, hardtimes, suffering without giving up till you get to the finishing line. Jesus patiently endured persecution, shame, hardship, suffering on the cross before he got the crown.
There is no crown without pains, suffering and hardship. The recipients of the Letter were facing hardtimes of persecution, none of them had yet died for their faith, because they were still alive as at the time of writing of the letter, the letter  was to encourage them not to give up just as Jesus Christ but to patiently run their race till the end.
Hardship can either pressed a Christian down or lift a Christian up depending on the attitude of the Christian to it. Our attitude to persecution and hardship is to patiently endure it as we look on to Christ for strength to push it through into victory.
Prayer: Father help me to patiently run my race to the end without giving up to persecution and hardship in Jesus name.
