Text: 1 Samuel 13:1-13
Topic: God uses delays to test our patience
Key verse: He waited there for seven days, the time set by Samuel; but Samuel did not come to Gilgal, and Saul's men began to scatter. 1 Samuel 13:8
Nobody prays for delay but they are inevitable in our journey in life. It takes patience to walk with God and God is usually concern about our attitude in moment of delays. Our attitude in moment of delay usually determine the altitude we will reach in life.
Samuel had enough reasons and excuses to justify his claims but the truth remains, he had disobeyed the instruction of God because he could not stand it to see his foot soldiers rapidly slipping away in the midst of battle and customarily without sacrifice and worship to God they can't launch out against the enemy. As soon as he performed the sacrifice, Samuel came in, his excuses were not accepted, he had played God's designated role for priests, and God's instant verdict was made known to him that his kingdom will no longer be established in Israel forever.
Saul's attitude of impatience in moment of delays cut short his altitude of everlasting kingdom in Israel. He substituted rituals for faith in God. Obedience to God is far more important to sacrifice. Do not allow impatience to make you disobey God, stick to his words and plans for your life regardless of the consequences. God at times uses delays to test our patience.
Prayer: Father help me to patiently wait for your timing in moment of delays in Jesus name
