Watch and Pray
Text: Matthew 26:36-44
Memory verse: watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak. Matthew 26:41
The final moment of a man is very important because he have seen the end. Certain words will come from his mouth because  he is seeing what others are not seeing.
During the last moment of Jesus with his disciples at the garden of Gethsemane, he settled it all on the knees to the extent that his sweat was like drops of  blood falling on the ground but his disciples were sleeping. The disciples were sleeping because they did not see what Jesus was seeing. This prompted Jesus to say watch and pray...
Jesus saw trials that awaited him, he saw the pains and burden of sin he had to take, he saw the crucifixion, he saw the agonies, he was almost giving up to the flesh but on his knees his spirit man was strengthen to move on with courage. Jesus was able to see because he was not asleep. To watch is to be at an alert and sensitivity to sin and works of the flesh. To watch is to subdue passions such as food, sex, fame, ego and anything that want to hinder us from doing the will of God. As you are watching, you are also talking it out to God in prayers. It is in prayers, you admit your weakness, and he will give you strength and courage to move on. Watch and pray... It is a command from Jesus Christ which must be obeyed for us to be victorious in this world.
Prayer: Lord Jesus help me to watch and pray at all times so that I will not fall into temptation.
Word on the Marble: To fail to watch and pray is to prepare to fall into temptation.
