Topic: Do not cut your cross
Text: Luke 9:18-27
Golden text: then he said to them all: if anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. Luke 9:23
A story was told of 5 men embarking on a journey with their cross which was long and very heavy. They groaned heavily under it with pains, there was a man among the five he kept praying Lord cut this cross for me each time he felt the pain and God kept cutting it for him while others were asking for grace to keep carrying it. The man with cut cross was very happy, he was moving faster than others and others envied him. His happiness was short lived when he got to a deep hole he could not pass, waited for others and was celebrating thinking he had gotten to the end of the road but to his amazement others met him there, and they used their cross as a bridge to cross over, he wanted to do the same but his cross was too short. He wept and cried bitterly while others left him there.
Stop complaining about your problems, instead of complaining and looking for short cuts. Pray for the grace and strength to push it through and overcome. Each time you complain, asking God to spare you of problems and challenges. You are simply saying cut my cross. So stop cutting your cross, patiently endure whatever may come your way in the course of following Christ and you shall safely arrived at eternity without being stopped.
Prayer: Lord help me not to cut my cross but give me grace to carry it till I die in Jesus name
